Dolores Billand

Obituary of Dolores Billand

Please share a memory of Dolores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dolores Billand passed away peacefully at The Country Home in Morris Plains on Thursday, December 20, 2021. She had shared 89 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and priceless memories with family and friends.

Born in Summit to the late John and Jean Cardone, Dolores was the only daughter of three children to bless their household. She was raised in Newark and graduated from West Side High School prior to making a successful career for herself in Data Entry for Prudential Insurance. She worked there for 25 years before retiring in 1972. While living in Newark, she married her soulmate and best friend, Charles “Chuck” Billand, on October 16, 1954. That is also where they began a family of their own; always wanting the best for their children, Dolores and Chuck found their forever home in Denville after she retired.

Dolores loved to have fun and enjoy life! Her and Chuck made the most of their retirement and spent many nights in Atlantic City reveling in the social activities and entertainment. She also adored her time with her best friend, Marie; together they traveled the world and went on many long walks. Dolores loved walking and swimming. She truly was an incredible wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Chuck, her loving sons, Gary and Ronnie, her parents, and brothers, John Cardone, Jr. and Ronald Cardone.

She leaves only joyful memories to her caring sisters-in-law, Vera Cardone and Olga Cardone; her best friend, Marie Wolf; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Services will be private. Dolores will be laid to rest with her husband at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. Memorial Donations are being accepted to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, or share your favorite memory of Dolores here to continue to celebrate the amazing life she endowed to us.
