Obituary of Kristy Ann Schaub

Please share a memory of Kristy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

"Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.”

       –Mother Teresa

Kristy Ann Schaub passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 after a brave one-month bout with a rapid onset of cancer affecting multiple organs.  She shared 51 years of pure joy with everyone she met.

Visitation and funeral service will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville NJ 07834 on Sunday, December 5th. Visitation:  Noon to 4 PM. Funeral service & Eulogies: 4-5 PM.

Born December 7, 1969, Kristy grew-up in Long Valley, NJ. She attended University of West Virginia on a swim scholarship to study Education and to apply her considerable athletic skills.  A gifted swimmer, Kristy still holds records at the Bridgewater YMCA and the Berkeley Aquatic Club. When a car accident damaged her knee, she came home and finished her studies at Jersey City State University. She graduated with honors and began her career as an educator.

In the midst of this journey she was blessed to meet, or shall we say “pursue” Alan Schaub.  Al was smitten too and soon, into their courtship, they just “knew” it was a match made in heaven. On a beautiful spring day, May 11, 1996, they married and started their life together.  Kristy soon took a job with the Tewksbury Board of Education – another ‘match made’. Between earlier teaching venues and Tewksbury, Kristy had served Kindergarten students and their parents for over 26 years.  She always sought to do the right things for, and has been her “kids” advocate and cheerleader. She did everything in her power to help each student and has always had a remarkable ability to reach and inspire them. Her presence will be missed beyond words.

In 2008, Kristy’s biggest dream came true; she became a mother.  Her heart was overjoyed the day she found out she was pregnant. In January, 2008, she and Al were blessed with their son Mason; he has been her constant source of joy and focus in the world.  She was the proudest Mom and would do anything to give him a wonderful life. He truly was the center of her universe. She was thrilled to attend his cart racing events and immensely enjoyed the time they spent as a family. They loved hiking, biking and heading to the NJ shore together.

Kristy was the wife, mother and friend that we should all strive to be.  She was the friend who was always there first; the one each of us could count on. She was kind and beautiful -- inside and out. She possessed an amazing spirit which will never leave us. She will be missed immeasurably, but never forgotten. Strangers and friends alike gravitated towards Kristy because of her infectious smile and all-embracing personality. She has left an impression on this world that will remain with all of those who had the good fortune of knowing her.

She leaves a lifetime of beautiful memories to her husband Alan Schaub of 25 years; their adored son Mason; loving mother Ann Allen (Roger); deceased father Frank Hornich (Janet); brother Frank C. Hornich IV (Tara); niece Jayne Hornich; Aunt Rosemarie Hammond (Brad); cousin Paul Hammond; cousins Emma Hornich, Matt Hornich; sister in-law Debra (Randy) May; and many dear friends, students neighbors and peers.
