Obituary of Rev. Wendy B. Spector

Please share a memory of Rev. Wendy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Wendy Beth Spector, Mt. Tabor

How to write an obituary when your wife dies from an incurable form of cancer after 52 years of marriage?

Wendy was multi-talented.  A bachelor of fine arts degree (Cooper Union), a New York City social service worker, a masters ministerial degree (Drew University, Theological School), a pastor (Berkshire Lower Valley), a chaplain (Compassionate Care) (Valley and Saint Clare’s Hospital), coordinator and counselor for children suffering from bereavement issues (Rainbows of Denville, NJ).

In her spare time, she was the loving mother of (Zaron b.1971), (Ardra b.1975, married to Alan Feulner) and (Gavin b.1981, married to Valerie Spector). We were married February 15, 1969 in New York City, and then moved to Mount Tabor, NJ in 1991.

Wendy was born in Rochester, New York on June 14th, 1944 to Dr. Willard John Stevenson and Pearl Rita Stedman. She had three brothers: (Jack 1941-2007), (Philip 1946-2021), and (Scott b.1954, married to Christine Stevenson), a brother and sister-in-law (Edward and Susan Baer).

She died peacefully in Saint Clare’s Visiting Nurse hospice, Dover, New Jersey, on October 27th 2021.

Her compassion for human beings combined with a gentle and loving demeanor made her a unique individual in a world which often underestimates the need for peace and justice. We will all miss her love, tenderness and wisdom.

-Michael Spector
