Joe was born in Brooklyn to the late Charles and Grace.  He was one of eight children.  After high school, he married his longtime sweetheart, Arlene Bradley, and they started a family of their own.  They eventually settled in Denville, where they have resided for many years.

He was employed for 40 years by Grand Union Supermarkets, where he worked in management.  He worked hard and provided his family a beautiful life.  Joe was an avid birder and enjoyed sharing these times with his grandchildren.  He was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and enjoyed working on his property.  Above all, he loved spending time with family, including his loyal dog, Rusty.

He was predeceased by five siblings; he leaves a lifetime of memories to his loving wife of 53 years, Arlene; his daughter, Denise Jacobus and her husband Paul; his son, Joseph McCaig Jr.; his adored grandchildren, Dylan Jacobus, Carolyn Jacobus and Bridget Jacobus; his sisters, Kathleen Fallone and Grace Anthony; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Bradley; and many dear relatives and friends.
