Obituary of Howard C. Milligan

Howard C. Milligan passed away on January 19, 2018, at the Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, FL at the age of 91.

 

Born in Chicago, IL, he grew up in Bennington, VT and lived in Denville, NJ for many years before moving to Port St. Lucie, FL 30 years ago.

 

Howard proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII.  He later became the owner of Milligan Road Builders which he operated for 30 years before retiring in 1985.  While living in Denville Howard became the town Mayor in 1963.  He was also an honorary Free Mason at St. John’s Masonic Lodge in Mt. Lakes, NJ. 

 

He was predeceased by his first wife Betty Milligan in 1976.

 

Howard is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn (Sites) Milligan of Port St. Lucie, FL; his loving children, Robin Fisher & Loren of Somerville, NJ, Scott Milligan &Wendy of Port Lucie, FL, and Penny Milligan & her partner, Keith Bierwisch of Somerville, NJ; his cherished grandchildren, Nicole Pierre-Louis & husband Ricky, Shawn Milligan; adored great-granddaughter Faelise Camille McTernan; his step-daughters, Sherri Mazzola & husband Steve, Debbie Dowd, Cindy Ellman and Lorie Furth; his caring step-grandchildren; and many more extended family and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 27, 2018, at 10AM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834.  Interment will follow at Denville Cemetery.  Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9PM.
