Obituary of Frederick D. Varker

Please share a memory of Frederick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frederick D. Varker, of Rockaway Twp., passed away peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, November 23, 2017. He was 89 years young.

He was born in Sheatown, PA to the late Frederick and Mary Varker. He graduated from Lehigh Valley College with a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. He made a very successful career for himself as a Professional Chemical Engineer, retiring in 1994 from Foster Wheeler in Hampton, NJ. He enjoyed trivia, current events, playing horseshoes, watching baseball, and playing the violin. He was very involved with the Denville Community Methodist Church, where he played the violin; was a member of the Men’s Club; participated in Choir; and acted as Treasurer. He was also very involved with Gideons International in Morris County where he was the Treasurer.

Fred was the epitome of a “good Christian”. He was a very humble and caring man that truly loved giving back to his community and others. He, along with his beloved wife Elaine, would travel to Newark and NYC to minister and provide to the homeless. He will be sorely missed and forever treasured in our hearts.

Predeceased by his soulmate, Elaine in 2007 and his sister, Mary Jane Varker, he leaves only joyous memories to his cherished son, James Varker and his wife, Jodi of Rockaway; his caring brother, Kenneth Varker and his wife Charlotte of Hughesville, PA; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Fred loved and cherished his time with his family and friends.

Public Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 2nd from 3 – 4 pm with Funeral Service beginning at 4 pm at Denville Community Methodist Church, 190 Diamond Spring Rd, Denville, NJ 07834. Memorial Donations are being accepted in his memory to Gideons International, The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251, or Denville Community Methodist Church. Please  leave a condolence and special memory for his family.
