Obituary of William T. Babcock

William Babcock passed away at home on Friday, April 7th. He shared 56 years of love, laughter and friendship with all who knew him. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 11th from 4-8 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A Funeral service with military honors will begin at 6 that evening. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the good work of the Dept. of VA or the Rockaway Fire Dept. by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Bill was born to William and Catherine Babcock and was the 2nd of four children. He was raised in Rockaway and attended Morris Hills High. After his schooling, he enlisted in the US Navy proudly serving our country. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home and started Babcock Hardwood Flooring. Bill ran this business successfully for many years, making homes beautiful! When he wasn’t working, Bill donated much of his time to his community as a volunteer fireman in Rockaway Borough for over 7 years. He loved being a firefighter and the comradery that came with it. Most recently, he has lived in Ocean Gate, NJ. Bill always knew how to make you laugh and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed good music, loved animals, and loved his two children. He was the proud Grandpa to Shain and loved talking about this new baby in the family. Predeceased by his father William C. Babcock, and his Uncles Larry Wassil and Rodger and James Downey; he leaves happy and funny memories to his Mother Catherine (nee Downey); his children Kelley Babcock (Michael Brown) and Kevin Babcock (Natalie Rodriguez);grandson Shain Brown; sisters Linda de Geus (Jerry) and Deborah Leonardis; brother Steven Babcock; friend and former spouse Sandra Babcock; Aunts Nancy Wassil, Maureen Tupper and Uncle Edmund Downey; nieces Amanda, Alexa, Rachel, Lacey, Sarah, Elizabeth and Jillian; nephews Christopher, Noah and Daniel; Demon, the canine; and many more dear relatives, friends, firemen and fellow Veterans.
