Richard E. Wagoner, Jr. passed away peacefully after being surrounded by his family on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Overlook Hospital. He was 64 years young. Born and raised in North Caldwell, NJ then moving to Denville as a sophomore in high school. Richard has been a Denville resident for over 50 years. Richard graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Retiring in 2014 as a Sales Manager, he has worked in the Manufacturing and Distribution business since the age of 21. His career began working alongside his father-in-law at Jersey Paper Company and he recently retired from Dart Corporation. Richard was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of God’s love. He was a proud and very active member of the Church of the Saviour Episcopal Church in Denville where he was a former Warden along with his wife, Candy. He met his soulmate at the age of 16 and it was love at first sight. Their fairy tale continued when they married and raised two wonderful children together. He was very active in his children’s lives, including coaching his son’s soccer team growing up. He loved to play sports, starting with basketball, soccer and tennis at Morris Knolls High School to being the captain of his soccer team in college. Lake George holds many special memories for Richard and his family as they would vacation there every summer. Richard was a very kind, compassionate, considerate, and devoted family man. There was not one person that met him, that didn’t like him. He genuinely cared about people, and it showed. He relished in spending time with his family. He believed in living life with no regrets, and that meant spending as much time with family as possible, and living a life filled with love. It was the simple things around him in life that he never took for granted, commenting daily how blessed he was. He has left a legacy of laughter, love, and devotion that will live on in our hearts forever. Left to keep his legacy alive is his beloved wife of 42 years, Candace Wagoner; his adored children, Diana Langevin (James) and Michael Wagoner; his worshiped grandson, Jackson James Langevin; his cherished parents, Richard E. Wagoner, Sr. and Marjorie (Fuller); his caring siblings, Steve Wagoner (Linda) and Joyce Ames (Nathaniel); and many loved nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 24th at 11:00 am at Church of the Saviour, 155 Morris Ave., Denville, NJ 07834.
