Obituary of Mary Anne Caffrey

Mary Anne Caffrey (Harding) passed away in Rome, NY on October 13, 2016 at the age of 82. Born in Morristown, she had lived in Rome, NY since 2006. She retired as a purchasing agent from Chubb Life of America in Parsippany, NJ in 1999, and had previously worked as a motel manager, waitress, secretary, in the telegram office, and she made venetian blinds and worked at Morley Larue Laundry. Anne was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #390, past president of Morris County American Legion Auxiliary, past commander of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit #63, past president of Rockaway, Denville, and Marcella Memorial Association, past president of Cabane #228 Forty and Eight, a member of VFW Auxiliary Unit #2519, State Representative for Lyons V.A. Medical Center for American Legion Auxiliary, Chapeau Passe Salon #22 Eight et Forty, usher at St. Mary's Church and member of the Denville Seniors Club. She received an award from the department of NJ American Legion Auxiliary for 3,548 hours of volunteer work at Lyons Hospital as well as receiving the V.A.V.S. volunteer of the year. She continued to volunteer after moving to Rome, NY. Anne was predeceased by her husband Thomas Caffrey in 2002. She is survived by her loving children Linda Humphries, Victoria Hopler, Kenneth Hopler, Thomas & Bonnie Hopler and Ralph & JoEllen Hopler. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, her step children Elaine & Rob Struble, Lora Verducci, Mary Silverman, Tom & Lydia Caffrey, Blanche & Jerry Riebel, her siblings John & Sandra Harding and Jim & Mary Harding and many nieces & nephews. Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Wednesday October 19, 2016, at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com and then going to St. Mary's Church in Denville for a 10:30am Liturgy of Burial Mass. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8pm. Donations in her memory can be made to 8 et 40 Cabane Nationale: 250 E 38th St. Indianapolis, IN 46205, for Nurses Scholarships.
