Obituary of Armando J. Vecchione

Armando Vecchione, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. He was 92. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 27th at 10:30 am at his home parish, Holy Family Church, Nutley, NJ. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 26th from 1- 4pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. Donations in his memory are welcome to St. Jude Childrens Hospital by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Armando was born and raised in Newark, NJ and part of the greatest generation. After his schooling, he proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Upon his return to the states, he married Camille Vitale and the couple started a family of their own. They resided in Newark, then Belleville, finally settling in Nutley. Armando enrolled in Rutgers College graduating with a degree in business. He worked as a banker in NYC for many years. Most recently he enjoyed being active in the Old Guard in Nutley, serving as past President and past Vice President, bowling with friends and staying quite social. He was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Church. He was a NY Yankees fan, enjoyed Opera, music and a good crossword puzzle; but above all, his family meant the world to him. Predeceased by his wife Camille; and his daughters Irene Aragona and Mary Vecchione; he is survived by his loving daughter Netta Aragona (David); his grandchildren Tina Aragona (Imad Zaheer), Jenny Aragona (Alexander Lindroth), David Aragaona and Diane Aragona (Charles Salamone); son in law Steven Aragona (Lori Wnek); his dear companion Helen Smith; and many more close friends and relatives.
