Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nursing is a work of Heart…. Beverly A. Acker passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 18th, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years young and has left a lifetime of beautiful memories and a lasting legacy of care, love, beauty and grace for all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10:30 am at her parish, St. Mary’s Church, Denville. Friends and relatives may visit on Sunday, May 22nd from 2-6 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Donations in her name may be made by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial .org to the good work of the St. Mary’s Prayer Shawl Ministry. Born in Hackensack to the late Anthony and Alice Laudato, Bev was the oldest of four children. After HS, she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse and attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1960. In August of 1961, she married her sweetheart Olin “Butch” Acker and the couple settled in Morris Plains and later Denville to raise a family of their own. Bev worked as a psychiatric nurse at Greystone Hospital for many years, followed by Morris View nursing home, Morris Plains School District as a school nurse and eventually retiring from Internal Medicine of Morristown in 2012. She loved being a Nurse. It was a calling, a passion, a way of life. She cared deeply for every patient she had the pleasure to meet in this world. Even above this love; was her family. She was an amazing wife, Mom, Grandma, Sister and Aunt to so many. She was so proud of her family and loved being a Mom. Beverly donated her time with the Ladies Auxiliary Morris Plains FD, with the Morris Plains Board of Health, served as a volunteer at the Zufall Clinic in Dover, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s and with the N.J.E.A. She will be missed dearly, but we are certain that her kindness, selflessness and love will live on through all of us. She leaves only happy memories to her loving husband Butch of 55 years; adoring daughters Lori Acker (Wendy Walker) and Amy Acker; granddaughter Amy Guillerman; very dear friend Maryanne DiMarzo; brothers George (Janna), Anthony (Grace) and Paul Laudato (Linda); grand pups Aria and Dolce, favorite feline Boo and many more loving relatives, friends and acquaintances. “What we have done for others and the world, remains and is immortal.”
